Placeholders
Variables that act as docking stations for your data. You design the structure, and the Placeholders tell Drafta precisely where each piece of dynamic information should go.
Drafta is the AI-powered platform that turns your data into perfectly crafted documents, notes, or content. Instantly. At any scale.

Just write. Use Placeholders for any data you want to change. It feels like a normal text editor, but it’s infinitely more powerful.
Link each Placeholder in your template to a data source. Pull info from a simple Form, a built-in Drafta Dataset, or any API. No more janky scripts.
For each Placeholder, give our AI custom instructions. Summarize raw data, rewrite text to a specific tone, or even translate it on the fly.
Click a button and watch Drafta create perfect, AI-enhanced documents in seconds. Reclaim your time for work that actually matters.
Stop stitching together separate tools . Drafta unifies your templates, data, and logic in one calm, reliable place.
From legal contracts to API docs and AI prompts. If it's text, Drafta automates it. For any professional, in any industry.
Manual entry leads to errors. Drafta pulls data directly from the source, guaranteeing 100% accuracy every time.

The end of static content
Variables that act as docking stations for your data. You design the structure, and the Placeholders tell Drafta precisely where each piece of dynamic information should go.

Attach an AI prompt to any Placeholder to transform data before it's inserted. Summarize, rephrase, translate, and more.

The simplest way to start. Create a quick form to manually input data for one-off document generation.

Built-in databases to store, manage, and connect structured data to your templates.

Connect to the outside world. Pull live data from any external service with a custom API request.

Build documents automatically every Monday, or instantly send an invoice the moment a deal's status changes in your CRM.
Pre-built solutions for specialized workflows. Unlock advanced toolkits designed for legal teams, compliance, software, and content production.
Securely send a link with password to a final document, or share an interactive form and let clients or partners fill in the data themselves.
Take a look at your digital workspace. What's the one element that's always there?
Text. It's in your documents, your scripts, your presentations, your reels and ads. Text is the source code of modern business; it’s how abstract ideas become tangible reality.
But what happens when your most important tool is also your most tedious one?
It all began with a special kind of hell: the need to create hundreds of contracts, reports, and invoices every month by manually moving text from one place to another. The only "solutions" were kludgy automation and brittle scripts, which was often just as painful.
The first glimmer of an idea came back in 2017 from legal practice: a simple text templating engine with variables and a form.
The key was creating templates on the fly, without the usual headache.
But when generative AI arrived, the game changed completely. A new, far more powerful concept struck: what if an entire document was just a set of AI-enhanced variables?
What if a user could simply type a few words, press a button, and get a perfect result?
In practice, an afternoon of drafting becomes a few minutes of filling in what's new. The structure, wording and checks live in the template, so the hundredth document is as good as the first.
That concept was too impactful to ignore, and it became the foundation of Dark Pool Studio, a product validation studio founded by Alex Cheshire. Drafta is its first experiment.
Instead of betting everything on one big idea, the studio ships small, focused tools and lets real users decide which ones grow.
The studio's mission is to find ways to enhance human capabilities. Drafta is our attempt to change document work so one person can achieve the output of ten.
Most document work is still monkey-like copy-pasting. That routine has outlived its purpose, and people already expect software to handle the predictable parts.
We're building toward a future where a document is the result of your decisions, not your keystrokes.
We build our product for a specific kind of person: the creative perfectionist who loves order but thrives in the chaos of creation.
The one who is driven crazy by monotonous, primitive work.
We believe creating any kind of content should feel less like a chore and more like playing with a constructor set, adding a touch of gamification to the most boring workflows.
Drafta turns repetitive document work into a configurable pipeline: design a template once, connect your data, and generate one document - or a thousand.
Most document work is the same document over and over with different details: a contract with a different client name, an offer with different pricing, a report with this month's numbers. Drafta separates the part that stays the same from the part that changes:
Where do Placeholder values come from? Three sources:
Optionally, AI steps in at two levels: Magic Writer generates static text right in the editor, and AI Handlers transform raw Placeholder data into polished prose before it lands in the document.
The output is a Document - stored in Drafta, optionally exported to PDF.
Structure once (Template) → Connect data (Form / Dataset / Integration) → Optionally refine with AI (Handlers) → Generate at scale → Export
If any Placeholder resolves to more than one value - say, a Dataset column with 40 clients - Drafta generates one document per value. That's Batch generation, and it's the feature that turns an afternoon of copy-paste into one click.
The shortest possible path from empty workspace to finished document. No Datasets, no Integrations, no AI - just the core mechanic, so you feel the loop once before adding complexity.
My first template. In the editor, type:
This certificate confirms that our client has completed onboarding.
Client nameForm — meaning you'll type the value manually at generation time. What is the client's full name? - this is the question you'll be asked when generating.Your template now reads: This certificate confirms that [Client name] has completed onboarding.
My first template.Your first Document is saved in your Documents folder (Templates can define a specific destination - see Templates → Template settings). Open it: the placeholder is gone, the real name is in.
What you just learned is 90% of Drafta. Everything else - Datasets, Integrations, AI Handlers, Batch generation - is this same loop with more powerful data sources plugged in.
